Job Description

Purpose:
South Seas Healthcare Trust is committed to providing excellent health and wellbeing for Pacific People and all communities. The overall objective of the mentoring service is to enhance the wellbeing of young people, particularly those in South Auckland, so that they may continue to achieve their goals and reach their potential.

Key accountabilities:
Administration:

Complete reporting, evaluative and administrative requirements

Attend all team meetings.

Ensure accuracy of data entry and reporting - internal and external.

Communicate any client updates/progress with the Youth Development and Wellbeing Lead in a timely manner.

Communicate programme or session updates with young people and parents in a timely manner.

Provide weekly workplan to the Youth Development and Wellbeing Lead
Supervision
• Provide services to young people who may need support to achieve their education, career and /or personal goals, AOD and mental health and wellbeing with a focus on Māori and Pacific youth.
• Provide Clinical Support for the Alcohol and Other Drugs (AOD) Programmes within South Seas Healthcare.
Coordination:
• work with a team of youth undertaking mentoring services, youth activities, programmes, events for the community.
• work with schools, youth organisations and a wide range of community and statutory stakeholders to identify the best ways to access and engage young people with organisations, including schools, police, youth organizations and collaborative partners.

Ensure all policies and procedures are followed.
Event Management:

Provide additional support to wider programme where necessary.
Cross Network
Ensure effective liaison with providers within the Pacific Consortium to deliver integrated services in line with the one stop shop approach.
Person Specification: General Requirements
All staff are expected to:

Contribute to the efficient and effective functioning of South Seas in order to meet organisational objectives. This includes demonstrating appropriate and professional workplace behaviours, providing assistance to team members if required and undertaking other key responsibilities or activities as directed by one’s supervisor.

Perform their responsibilities in a manner which reflects and responds to continuous improvement; and

Familiarise themselves and comply with South Seas Occupational Health and Safety and other key policies.

Desired Skills and Experience

Be fully or provisionally DAPAANZ or Clinical Social Worker registered
• Have sound knowledge and awareness of issues faced by minority groups, in particular Māori and Pacific and passionate about working towards equitable outcomes
• Deep commitment and understanding of Pacific Culture, Te Ao Māori, traditions and protocols.
• Be an engaging professional facilitator with a background in youth development and AOD experience in working with Pacific and Māori youth.
• Effective communication, strong record keeping skills, group presentation and interpersonal skills.
Desirable

Knowledge of a Pacific Island Language

An affinity with Pacific Culture and an understanding of health priorities for Pacific and other high need populations.

Clean full drivers' licence.
